"Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture was a snooze, punctuated by moments of severe ruffle-induced discomfort. The show opened full of dark, brownish reds (ick) used for what could have been a lovely coat had it not been for the extra embellishment at the shoulders that resembled barnacles more than florals, and done up in yet another variation of a floral print spattered every which way. Dear Mr Valli, Florals. Ruffles. We get it, now can you move on?" Read more.

"Raf Simons announced his departure from Jil Sander after the Fall 2012 ready-to-wear show, much to the disappointment and consternation of pretty much everyone.
But then came the news that he would be installed as designer at Christian Dior, which had been rather without specific direction since the drama of John Galliano several seasons ago.
Aspects of the Christian Dior Couture Fall 2012 show were a but reminiscent of Raf’s last collection at Jil Sander- the floral installation, the color palette, some of the shapes, and references to 1950’s mode." Read more.

"Since the Italians have been doing well this season, let’s keep on that tip and talk about Givenchy. Yes, yes it’s technically French but Riccardo Tisci is Italian and so therefore it’s admissible here.
Resort 2013 went to sort of a medieval meets the crusades coming back from Istanbul type moment... Many of the blouses had a split sleeve from the shoulder to wrist which lent the medieval princess vibe." Read more.

Maria Grazia and Pier Paolo for Valentino Resort 2013 presented one of their best collections to date, showing what were simply good, good, clothes.
The lacy dresses were particularly good updates of what has become a Valentino staple, especially when accessorized in matching colors. For some reason this looked super fresh to the eye. Sleek and clean rather than over-styled as people are wont to do these days." Read more.

"Suno has been around now for enough seasons that we know most likely what a collection of Max and Erin’s will look like. For Resort 2013, sure enough, there were lots of prints, plenty of layering, and some inventive styling.
One aside before speaking about the clothes- it’s super challenging to even look at this photography and understand what’s going on with the patterned rigs in the background...and I feel bad for the poor team of interns who probably had to run around getting this set up." Read more.

"The Resort 2013 collection Oscar de la Renta showed is straightforward, well-conceived, and will certainly be easy on buyers looking to make good sell-throughs. The colors were vivid, but steady in a certain way that skewed a bit older than some of his more recent collections.
The liquid gossamer silver looks were especially attractive, as was a bright floral watercolor print. Some of the other prints were less successful especially when shown in jacket, blouse and skirt of a look." Read more.

"Chanel Resort 2013 is one of the loveliest, most light-hearted collections in recent memory. Karl Lagerfeld went all out with his Marie-Antoinette inspiration, even staging the show in the gardens at Versailles.
The shapes became modern with the shortened skirts, the colors were soft and fresh and light, and most everything paired with white or gold creepers meant an updated look.
This was not a collection filled with jackets UES ladies of a certain age wear to lunch. Rather, party dresses and- dare I say trendier- shapes dominated." Read more.

"It wasn’t that difficult to choose three looks I loved from the Met Ball because basically everything else was a disaster. Let’s review. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)
Beyonce- Okay I get it, you’re Beyonce. But if you’re going to wear Givenchy why choose the Vegas showgirl version?
Chloe Sev- did your makeup artist quit an hour before the event? Get it together.
SJP- A floral pillowcase, even if it is Valentino Couture, is a poor choice." Read more.
